Downtown

Wil Dytico
One of the few San Diego natives still in San Diego, Wil Dytico currently teaches an intermediate level class at our downtown location.  After graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in Psychology and Japanese, he traveled to Japan to test out his new language skills and found that his Japanese was not as good as he thought. When not helping students perfect their California surfer slang, Wil can be found rock climbing, thinking about going to the beach, or enjoying relaxed San Diego life.

Geoffrey Teal
Before arriving in San Diego in January of 2010 I spent two years in Sao Paulo teaching English to students in companies while enjoying everything Brazil had to offer with my wife. Prior to that experience I lived two years in Prague where I received my TEFL certification and got my first taste of ESL teaching. My education background is Political Science with a minor in History. I graduated from Colorado State University in 2005.

John C. Lipes
John C. Lipes has been at IAE since 2005 and has been teaching since 1996, when he started working for Berlitz Language Schools in Nuremberg, Germany. In addition to being a California BBPVE Certified English Instructor, John has studied Hotel / Restaurant Management and International Marketing. He received his Bachelor s in 2003 from the Polytechnic University of Darmstadt, in Darmstadt, Germany. Besides working at SSU / IAE, John is also an English <> German Interpreter and Translator and owner of the Bed & Bay Residence Inn.

Jorge Lopez
I come from Tijuana. I was raised in San Diego. I have lived in 6 countries, 10 different cities, and have worked in four teaching English and tutoring. I know what it is like to learn a new language and I believe this allows me to be a better teacher. I can relate to the students difficulties in learning what for me was a third language--English. I received my TEFL this March of 2010 at the Language House in Prague and most of my teaching experience comes from teaching there and in Korea, where I spent a year. I have also taught youth programs at USD and helped run a small language school in Tijuana for a few years. Eventually I would like to teach at the Language Studies program at SDSU but I am very comfortable here at IAE. This is a great atmosphere, the students are formidable, the staff is amiable, and the view from my room is enviable. I play/listen to music, i read/write, and, above all, I live to live. I am free and I would like to stay that way.

Jenny Ginger
Jenny Ginger is a full-time instructor and Head Teacher at the downtown San Diego IAE location.   She grew up in Portland, Oregon and received her Master's Degree in Education at the University of Oregon in Eugene (Go Ducks!).With a combined total of 8 years in the field of ESL, she has worked with all ages and levels of English Language Learners. Jenny lived and taught for one year in Seoul, Korea, and had the wonderful experience of traveling to many wonderful countries in Asia. Her favorite activities include hiking, reading, and going to see live music.  Jenny is glad to be enjoying her time in the sunshine in San Diego as well as with the wonderful students here at IAE.

Carol Robertson
Carol runs nearly every day, but slowly!  She also meditates every day, but slowly!  She speaks Spanish, but also slowly!  She has taught English in Spain and England.  Right now she lives in City Heights with a handsome garden and two cats.  She has tried kayaking and wants to do it again, and also she really loves hiking and camping.  Her dream is to visit Nepal and India again, and continue her Buddhist studies.  She would like someday to teach English in Nepal or India.
