students for six years. he
studied music composition and
philosophy at Butler University
in Indiana and at University
College Cork, Ireland. he
began teaching in Japanese
public elementary and junior
high schools through the JET
Programme, and later moved to
Brasilia, Brazil, where he led
English language classes for
professionals affiliated with
the federal government. he
has been with the International
Academy of English since 2003.
James loves studying and talking
about grammar, plays Ultimate
Frisbee, and has studied several
musical instruments including
the Japanese
koto and Irish
bodhrán. |

Robert S. Tepper

Robert has over 25 years of experience in starting and operating businesses,
and is using that experience to strengthen the infrastructure, organization
and programs at SSU. Prior to coming to SSU, Robert was the President of
Day Elevator & Lift, a company that sells, installs, services and maintains
residential elevators, stairlifts and wheelchair lifts. Before being
recruited to Day, Robert was the President of UR Group, a sales rep
organization that sold products from a variety of electronic component and
test equipment manufacturers to customers throughout California. Prior to
UR Group, Robert co-founded, raised money for, and was the first president
of eBilities.com, an internet portal for people with disabilities, their
caregivers, family and friends. Before founding eBilities.com, Robert held
a variety of technical and management positions at AMCC, a semiconductor
design company. Robert has an MSEE from Stanford University and a BSE from
Duke University.

Tanya Davis
Academic Director, Intensive English Programs
Tanya is from the east coast of Canada. After graduating with a degree in philosophy and English she moved to Japan where she worked as an English instructor and, later, as the Academic Director at a university in Nagoya, Japan. She has ten years of experience as an ESL/EFL instructor and holds a TEFL Certificate, a TEFL Diploma, and is currently completing a Master’s in Education with a specialization in TESL. She loves to travel and has visited more than 10 countries – but she hasn’t yet been to Europe! It’s next on her list.
